About Us

Older gentleman barbequingFor over 20 years, residents of Jersey City and surrounding communities have received comprehensive primary care services in their neighborhoods. With financial support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Metropolitan Family Health Network, Inc. (MFHN) became the newest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Hudson County in the Fall of 2006. The goal of the new community health center is to make primary health services more accessible to families in Jersey City.

Patients without health insurance coverage are welcomed at Metropolitan. Federally Qualified Health Centers receive support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help support patients who are uninsured. Patients must present certain documentation that verifies residence, income and dependents. Based on this information, patients are charged for health care services based on a sliding fee scale. Minimum fees are assessed based on federal requirements.
